This title has been a hit on the iPhone so it arrives on Android under the spotlight. Self-described as an ‘3D impact simulator’ the premise basically involves pushing a rag doll called Mr. Dismount down or off a elevated locations like stairs, ledges, building, escalators and see the points rack up as he takes hit after hit – the bone crunching sound effects are chilling. The game is free but to access more levels and new character you will need to enter into the in-app billing scheme. Call us sadistic but it actually good fun, although we’re worried the gameplay isn’t compelling enough to hold the attention for too long.
ShakyTower
Although clearly based on the foundations of mobile gaming all time classic Tower Bloxx from Digital Chocolate, ShakyTower isn’t a slavish rip-off but actually delivers more interactive gameplay. Yes, building the highest tower from blocks is the main aim of the game but your forever being thwarted by arch-enemy, Gravity! To combat this unavoidable threat you need to ‘sway’ your phone left and right to keep the smiley green boxes from toppling. Naturally there are various difficulty levels and tricky mini games but it’s not as easy as it looks – even on easy level. Challenging but addictive, you will need a steady hand.
Pool Break Pro
The Android market isn’t short on pool/snooker simulators but Pool Break Up is certainly worth a gander if you like your sports games serious and challenging. The choice of games is comprehensive – you can play eight types of pool and that’s even before you’ve tried snooker and the unfathomable Carrom and Crakinole. Gameplay is very slick but if you just want a hit and hope romp then look elsewhere. Taking a shot involves intricate cue placing, cue ball, changing views, zooming in and out and lining up the line-sights plus gauging shot strength by drawing the stick back; you need to invest a lot of time and effort to bag a successful pot. A top class sports sim.
