Fans of Sucker Punch’s PlayStation-exclusive franchise, “inFamous” will soon have the opportunity to spend some extra coin for various Cole MacGrath goodies. Sony had previously announced a Hero’s Edition for the upcoming “inFamous 2,” but the company today detailed exactly what you’ll find in that giant, premium cost box. More than just the usual art book or soundtrack, the Hero Edition may actually help you look like the electrified protagonist.
There’s really quite a lot of stuff in the box. First, there’s a Cole MacGrath statue, sculpted by artist Dave Cortes. The figurine stands just over eight inches tall, and features the hero perched on a rooftop, looking like he’s about to take off onto a nearby electrical line. The statue actually looks pretty decent, and I have to say, it’s nice seeing Cole doesn’t look like a Nathan Drake rip-off anymore.
Secondly, the Hero Edition includes a copy of the soundtrack – yeah, so there is a soundtrack after all – and the first issue of the “inFamous” comic book. Apparently, the comic details Cole’s story since the first game.
“This is a must-read for any ‘inFamous’ fans who wondered what occurred after the events of the original game,” Chuck Lacson wrote on the PlayStation Blog. “You’ll learn the backstory of familiar characters like Moya and Sasha and get a better understanding of the events that set Cole’s new adventure in motion.”
But maybe that’s not enough. Maybe you want to do more than just sit in your room, staring at your Cole Macgrath statue while listening to the soundtrack. Also included in the Hero Edition is a full-size, wearable replica of Cole’s sling backpack. The bag really does look like the in-game satchel, right down to a conspicuously placed “Sly Cooper” – Sucker Punch’s other notable franchise – patch.
Lastly, the Hero edition comes bundled with a “Super Voucher” that will allow you to access a number of downloadable-content items. These include two new powers, two character skins, and four variant Amps – Cole’s weapon of choice. Again with a “Sly Cooper” reference, you can play with Sly’s cane instead of the usual two-pronged electrified Amp.
The “inFamous 2″ Hero Edition is $100, and can currently be pre-ordered leading up to the game’s June 7 release.
