Transformers Dark of the Moon Nintendo DS Hands-On Review

Tformers.com had our first Transformers Dark of the Moon Nintendo DS Hands-On demonstration was with Chester, who was the lead for the 3DS and Wii version of the game. As with the War For Cybertron / Cybertron Adventures lineup before it, the Wii/3DS version will be slightly different than it will be for the other consoles.

One aspect that is new for the all versions is that the Stealth
Force subline is finally put to use by being a mid-transformation
offered in the game. However, with the 3DS and Wii, you only get
to select between Alt and Stealth modes. There are basically two
types of missions: Collection and “Search and Destroy”.

In the Collection missions, you race around the area map collecting
checkpoints while engaging enemies.

In “Seach and Destroy” misssions
you must find your main target and defeat him while dealing with other
obstacles, such as airborne and on-ground enemies.

There are advantages and disadvantages to each mode. With the alt
mode, you have speed and control, but very little offensive capability.
With the stealth mode, you gain access to offensive weapons and some
more precise control, but at the expense of destabilizing your Energon
reserves and loss of speed. Therefore, care must be given to how long
you use your Stealth mode.

One interesting point is that the 3DS and Wii versions are identical to
one another. Another turn is that the storyline in the two Nintendo versions
will interlace with the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions of the game. Therefore,
to get the entire experience, you will need to play multiple platforms,
including the Nintendo versions. For those who have a DS system, there will
be an Autobot and Decepticon specific campaign cartridge.

Oh, one more thing. Lockdown is available as an exclusive character to the
Wii and 3DS versions.

Look for all platform titles to be released on June 14 2012 in the United States, with a June 24th release in Europe and a June 29th release in Australia. The Nintendo versions will be rated E10+, while the PS3 and Xbox versions will be rated T.
