While Europe is the lucky ones this time in managing to get Xenoblade Chronicles for the Nintendo Wii rather than North America, an issue plauged the release as a lot of users are reporting of the dreaded Disc Read Error.
First off, Xenoblade Chronicles is a dual layered disc. As with early Wii’s that was released several years ago, it really had a problem in reading dual layered disc. Same thing happened with Super Smash Brother when it was released on the Wii. While there is really no permanent fix to the problem aside from buying a new modeled Wii, there’s a solution but it will require some modification to the system.
If you have a legit copy of Xenoblade Chronicles and would like to play the game but can’t due to the Disc Read Error, installing the game’s data to an external USB hard drive will help. Before any of these installing can be done, the Nintendo Wii system has to be modified, which is also known Soft Modded.
When soft modding a Wii, there is no need to open the system. It is all done via an exploit that makes the Wii vulnerable to Homebrews.
